Finishing up Project 1

In Class Activities for Monday 1/23
1. Update the course page to add your name and the article you're editing/creating: 5-10 mins.
2. Post your article/edit drafts (in wiki-code) to the online ambassador talk page you've been assigned, either Buggie111 or Sonia. 25 mins.
3. Respond to Process Log #1, below, which will become part of your final portfolio for Project 1. 15 mins.


After writing the proposal and meeting with your curator, describe this part of the project's influence on your progress. How has it affected the writing you've completed thus far on the project? 




In Class Activities for Wednesday 1/25
1. Submit to online ambassador /  Make changes to articles/edits based on feedback from online ambassador.
2. Publish edits/articles.
3. Respond to Process Log #2, below, which will become part of your final portfolio.

After posting to your online ambassador's talk page and gaining their feedback, what have you learned about how a writer's audience can influence his or her writing. How has your interaction with the online ambassador influenced your writing?


Final Portfolios due Friday by midnight. Email me the following as attachments:

  • A MS Word doc with your article/edits pasted in which includes a link to the actual article on Wikipedia. 
  • Process Log #1 
  • Process Log #2
  • Curator Proposal
  • Online Ambassador Draft 


Projects will be graded on the following.

#Completion of all the materials/processes. 
#Curator Proposal Guidelines

Articles/Edits will subject to the following criteria:

+Exceeds / meets assignment length requirement (750-1000 words)
+Exceeds / meets assignment source requirement ( 2 sources)
+ Sources are chosen with a rhetorical awareness of their reliability, verifiable content, independent angle, and reputation.
+ Sources are incorporated with summary, paraphrase and quoting. Material is referenced using in-line citations
+Article's writing emulates an encylopedic style: is neutral, objective, third-person.+Article's content provides useful, significant, notable information about the topic.
+Article's organization effectively guides the reader to different sections.


  • An project in the A range effectively fulfills between all of the article criteria, and includes all other project materials.
  • An article in the B range effectively fulfills between 5-6 of the criteria, and includes all other project materials
  • An article in t he C range effectively fullfills betwen 4-5 of the critiera, and includes most of the other project materials.
  • An article in the D range only fulfills between 1-2 of the criteria, and is missing significant project materials.
